Maine, USA, uses 2 lane state roads, excepting 1 freeway.
where Thelma and I live. They are well maintained, have well
delineated striping, and ample shoulders space. Thelma’s
Ford F-350 truck, has side view mirrors, that were used by
the previous owner when he towed his fifth wheel trailer.
Thelma, and I used the construction materials supply center,
in the adjacent city, near our small town for supply’s. The
driving distance is about 12 miles. The state highway, that
connects both areas runs in a straight line. That said, on
the day reported about here, a very dangerous accident
occurred, As we proceeded to the the larger city, with the
intent to purchase construction materials,

A delivery truck,

owned by a local company
crossed the center median line
and his mirror collided
with ours.

Note: The closing speed of two vehicles traveling at 55 miles
per houris 110 miles per hour. To collide at this speed, would
cause instant death to all passengers. Mirrors collide when

vehicles are extremely close.

The driver of the local truck, accepted responsibly for the
incursion into our lane, and reported that to the police. The
local police made a report and stated that we did not need
a copy because it was the other vehicle’s mistake.
However, when we called the company who owned the
truck,
they stated that their driver actually told police that it was
our fault, and that they, (their insurance company) should
not pay the claim. What is the truth, false police report, or
false insurance report.? Why would a local company with
several trucks, lie about a mirror? Why?
