We arrived here in, Maine, December 31st 2016. The
snow was up to the axels of the truck, so we hustled into
the house, opening the house with the real estate key. The

house was warm, we were able to get some rest and prepare
for the next day. The key, operated both doors, the inside
door, and the outside door. However, the real estate key box
stayed on the front door for 4 months. I thought to myself
as I saw the box hanging there everyday; why the realtor
would leave their key-box on the front door of the home
for 4 months. Also, the realtor lived about 15 miles from the
house, therefore it would have been easy for him to retrieve
the key box.

The on going book, ”INTO THE BLACK”, contains over 72
incidences.

I considered how the incidents
continued to occur, how the perpetrators
were getting in the house?

Finally, after the last (what I call a hate crime), theft of
irreplaceable software, from my studio vocal booth, where
nothing else was stolen, except the software. In other words,
whoever took the box of software, took only something that
was absolutely worthless to them. The software was so old
that there aren’t computers, now, that can run it!
I finally decided that I couldn’t wait anymore to figure out
what had happened. One year and a half had passed. I
called a locksmith, to ascertain how the door was breached.
I discussed with a locksmith that I was locked out of my
house, without my keys, and if he could please help me get
in. The locksmith sounded very experienced, relating he had
worked for many years in the key lock business.
The locksmith asked me what type of lock was installed. I
told him that it was a deadbolt lock with the center cylinder
that you turn with the key. He immediately said, ”Oh, I can
get that open, we have a special tool. We insert the tool into
the center of the cylinder, turn it, and the cylinder comes
straight out.”

As he said that, everything made sense. Suddenly I realized,
that those who were getting in my house, were in fact using
that tool. They were in fact, removing the cylinder with that
special tool, which can be done in a minute or less, and
getting in. They had been doing that, over and over. I now
knew how they got in. I asked Thelma to purchase a new
lock immediately. I installed the lock on the front door, and
thought to myself, even though it’s the same type of lock,
maybe it will offer a little more resistance than the last one.
Knowing that all inexpensive deadbolt locks, can have their
cylinders removed very quickly with this tool, I realized there
wasn’t any way to secure the house. I proceeded to look
through the internet, and I discovered several locks that
were very expensive.

The locks that I discovered will called ASSA locks. They were
about ($360). The locks are impossible to defeat. The locks
state unequivocally in their specifications, that ”It would take
the best locksmith in the United States, one year, to get into
the lock.” Therefore, I realized that’s what I needed. I spoke
to Thelma, and she immediately paid for the lock. The cost
was very high, but after the lock was installed, we felt much
more secure. In fact, there wouldn’t be any way, anyone,
could ever get past that lock, unless they had a key. The new
lock was installed about two months ago 04.20.20. It was
installed just prior to the covid-19 outbreak.

However, recently, as of June 10th 2020,
I saw the inside door, strike screws
almost fall out on the floor.

I moved the door after closing it back and forth, and the door
moved a half an inch in and out. I realized that the door had
been forced open, and that the screws were so loose that
they fell out. Suddenly a chill came over me. I then realized,
that before the expensive lock was installed, burglars had
taken the cylinder out of the outside lock, and they forced
the inside door, pushing it open and using a credit card or
some other device to open the inside door. The old inside
door lock type are commonly known to be easy to defeat.
They’re only used as safety basically. I couldn’t believe that
the strike was so loose that it almost fell off the door jam.
I went directly to my small tool area, retrieved 2 inch screws,
and installed them on the strike, which remedied the strike
impossible to move. Now the door shuts so tight that
you can’t move it whatsoever when closed.
1.The locks on the front of the house were defeated, by a
common method known to locksmiths. They use the method
to reset the keys, and tumblers, to change the lock for a new
key. They perform this function all the time.

2.They were forcing their way through the second entry
door, inside passage door.
I’m 100% sure, that’s what they did to get in. To me, this
behavior is alarming. However, it does bring to an end, the
question relating to how the home was entered? We now
have the smoking gun. We know, how they got in.
